ROAD WORKS

The scheme to be executed is identified by the public representatives and submitted to the EDO(W&S)/D.O.(Roads) through District Coordination Officer/EDO(F&P). Then the staff of D.O.(Roads) surveys the site and prepares the estimate which after scrutiny by the competent authority, is forwarded to the EDO(F&P)/D.O.(Planning). This scheme is further scrutinized in the office of D.O.(Planning) and then placed before the Zila Council for approval. After approval by Zila Council, it is put up in the District Development Committee meeting for approval. If the D.D.C. agrees with the scheme, the same is approved and the administrative approval accordingly issued by the D.C.O./Chairman D.D.C. After issuance of administrative approval, the funds are released by the EDO(F&P) after seeking permission from the DCO. The tenders are then called by the D.O.(Roads) through wide publicity in the press from the contractors enlisted with C&W Department/EDO(W&S) and are opened in presence of Tenders Opening Committee and others on the fixed date and time. These are evaluated in the D.O.(Roads) office and the work awarded to the lowest contractor after getting approval of the competent authority. The ‘Nishans’ are then given to the contractor by the field staff and work started at site.

The D.O.(Buildings) after site inspection and receipt of plans approved by the concerned competent authority, prepare rough cost estimates. These estimates are submitted by the competent
