The livestock sector contribute about 35%of agriculture economy whereas on national level contribution is 9.6%. it is also contribution 18% of export earning of country . The animals provide essential nutrient of human diet in the form of meat, milk and eggs. They also provide raw material like wool, hair, hides & skin, bones and horns etc for various industries. Live stock is also the major source of motive power for agriculture operation and transport in our country. The live stock sector has come to rescue the rural economy at a time when cropping is showing uncertain results.

FUNCTION:

1. Treatment of Animals and Poultry.

2. Prophylactic vaccination against contagious diseases.

3. Artificial Insemination Services.

4. Extension Services.

5. Prevention of cruelty to Animals.

6. Meat Inspection.

7. Training to villagers on:

a. Prophylactic vaccination.

b. Management aspects.

c. First-aid Treatment.

SCOPE OF WORK :

The main goal of livestock sector is to increase the production of milk, meat and eggs in the country. The department is striving for achieving the same goal through provision of health care facilities to the following livestock population of district:
